Do any of you read Cathy Z's blog? I read her each week and she came up with a digital template to use to create a "year in photographs". Her pages were amazing and her asthetic is really similar to my own. Clean lines. graphic. beautiful white space. pictures. This is right up my alley. Now I don't digi scrap. I never have. Tried it once. Didn't work. but this was too beautiful. and I couldn't resist. I have both templates because..well. I got the first one and realized that I couldn't put my photos into each monthly page, which was part of the draw for me. So I went and got the second.totally digi templates as well. I know how to use photoshop (which is a big plus) and followed the instructions. So far, so good. I love the results. I love trying this in 8.5 x 11 (I never scrap that size and have had an empty album forever) and I started. Now mind you, I've only created January's first page. But I'm happy. SO HAPPY with the result and the rest of the templates will walk me through each month. I can't wait. FINALLY something I can do, something that's not too difficult (now to go and invest in more 8.5 x 11 photo paper, white cardstock, photo ink and black printer ink. YIKES!) Hello Friends. Well Circle Journal #2 is officially on it's way, and what a fun topic! A day in my life. it is only an 8 x 8 journal so I didn't want to overcrowd it with pictures, but immediately the title made me think of one of my favorite Beatles song "a day in the life" so in the spirit of scrapping song lyrics I thought it would be perfect!

And here is my LO from a couple of weeks ago for scrapping the music "Be somebody" by nickleback. (the glimmer mist I used made the paper wavy. UGH!)

Okay, in this picture, this is my DD McKenna and my best friend's daughter Gracyn. This was taken over thanksgiving in Sunriver, on thanksgiving day. the girls were being so good coloring and just hanging together. you can see the rolls ready to go in the oven. it's so great to see our girls playing together, Nicki and I have been friends since we were in highschool, but I've known her since 5th grade, so while Gracyn is her oldest, Miss M is my youngest. crazy!

Boy scrapping has taken a serious backseat now that I'm back to work full time. I am getting really bad about posting updates on what I've been working on..

Well..this month ended my DT term for 2 croppin cousinz as well as my one year term for my sketch world. what a great time I had there over the last year, and although my term ended, and so has the MB and kits, they have gone to a blog format...and you'll be seeing me there, so stay tuned for an announcement about that! Lucy's sketch blog is still rocking strong though!

Has it really been 6 weeks since I last posted anything? my life has been a whirlwind, and I barley have time to catch my breathe before it all starts all over again. I'm never home, and scrapping has been taking a close second to my "life" AKA, kids, family, work. so I'm sorry I've been such a bad blogger, but I have been creating, so for anyone that still is checking on me here I'm doing fine, just busier than ever! I'm getting ready to launch my photography web site this month, (the new one) and I can't wait to share it all with you! and...so you aren't bored, here are some of my recent creations! this first set was made with the January 2 croppin cousinz kit, it's basic grey, and who couldn't use a little more BG? seriously?

These last two LO's are from the December Scrappin the Music Challenges, you should check out January's Challenges, they are some of the BEST SONGS EVA, seriously cool!! I'm so lucky to be part of such an amazing team!

I do have two more mini albums that I created in December but I'll save those for another post next week! one of my resolutions (besides losing weight and exercising) is to start being better about updating my BLOG and checking in on my blog friends, so if you are stopping by SAY HI! well...it's towards the end of the month and I don't have too many LO's to show you...I had surgery last Friday and I'm still recovering and haven't scrapped in about two weeks. it's all very sad indeed. maybe this weekend I'll feel up to playing with paper! I have three awesome boxes of goodies to get out. One from http://www.2croppincousinz.com/ (their Nov. kit!) one from http://www.scarletlime.com/ (their Oct. kit) and a box of fun goodies from http://www.awalkdownmemorylane.net/ (just some random stuff I purchased but can't wait to use). so see...lots to do!

Here are two of the LO's that I did for Scrappin the music ------------> link on the side bar! this is this weeks current challenge, you have until Sunday to get your entries in. the song this week is Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" I used my Sept. Scarlet lime kit to complete this delicious LO of McKenna helping her daddy make pancakes a few weeks ago. she's really into helping in the kitchen right now, as are all the kids!

This is last weeks Challenge. Nirvanan's "Smells like teen spirit" as soon as I heard what the song was I knew exactly what photos of Tyler I wanted to get scrapped. this is him on his birthday in July. he's getting pretty good actually. the paper goodies I bought at Archivers in Chicago when I was there for summer CHA. not too bad for me, I only let them sit a few months! yay me!

This last LO has been 3 years in the making. no joke. I'm terrible slow at scrapping events, and I posted a challenge a 2CC this month (you have until November 14th the get your entry in!) it was to scrap a holiday or event in non-traditional colors. use two colors of cardstock, at least one photo and at least one PP, that's' it and the prize is awesome! you should all totally check it out. what's funny? I'm wearing this same black robe this saturday to the same halloween event. this time though, I will be UBER SCARY with a slashed throat and new wig and everything. will be fun!

This last weekend I created my FIRST EVER Acrylic album! It was challenging, especially deciding which adhesive to use, but I love the result. the Album itself is a square Green Geco Album and you will be able to purchase it at http://www.2croppincousinz.com/ Also, I thought this would be PERFECT for my entry for the scrappin the music challenge blog. I love this song, and it worked so well with my pics. the papers and letters, etc. are my last two kits from Scarlet Lime. I love the first of July. Not only is it my Husband's birthday (Happy 34th birthday Roy!) but it's also reveal day for the http://www.2croppincousinz/ kit! I adored this kit. everything about it was amazing!

This is my All Time favorite picture of my niece Kamryn. she's a tough one to catch, and she's just gorgeous. tfl!

These pictures were taken after the kids' dance compition just before a massive rain storm, it was warm and nice all day, and we came home to thunder and lightening and sky that was magnificent for a few minutes!

Allison's birthday was so fun this year, we gave her a surprise party, she loved every minute!!

these pictures of McKenna were taken after her spring recital. the cafeteria was too dark for pics really, but after we got some fun shots! she's a total goof. the flower embellishment is made by me, and I posted instructions and it's available in PDF form (thanks Alicia Barry!) on http://www.2croppincousinz.com/

ugh. time. never. have. enough. I did these pages about 3 weeks ago..maybe longer. I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off. my photography business is keeping me so busy that I rarely have time to scrap. or blog. or..well. or anything. I spend so much time editing pics! LOL! in the past three weeks I've done a CD/Album photo shoot and a Wedding. enough pictures to keep me busy for months! haha!

Pink Paisley Spring fling ROCKS THE HOUSE! oh my! I was super excited when I saw my DT kit for www.2croppincouzins.com. this paper is gorgeous and so fun to work with!! how did I get so lucky? okay..first up. this is my kitty Kenai, loving him! Allison is growing up before my very eyes. such a sweet young lady, and the scallop paper really makes this LO fun!
I love capturing the silly moments between my kids and their dad. during these photos Allison and Roy were supposed to be watching McKenna's gymnastics meet, but decided that a game of hand slap would be more fun! I used the monthly sketch from my sketch world (Lucy does amazing sketches!) to creat this one!
Ugh. Mother and Daughter. this was a picture taken during Easter at my house. my Daughter snapped the picture. so I used this as an opportunity to write down a few differences between my mother and I. Love the result!
and finally, each month Alicia creates sketches at 2CC's and the DT uses them to work with the kit. I was assigned the tag (which I never make) but LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! and can't wait to use it on a LO!

I posted this today at http://www.2croppincousinz.com/ but thought I'd share it on the blog for everyone as well....

I love photoshop, I run CS2. however, I'm guilty of using photoshop actions as a "crutch" for editing my pictures. I really don't know all that much about photoshop, or how to get the looks I want. I use ACTIONS all the time. I have a ton of them. I found a website that has changed my life though, http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/ although her blog is much much more than just photography, she has FANTASTIC step by step tutorials on photoshop. also, she has just released a KILLER set of FREE ACTIONS that will wow your photos.
while cruising through the tutorials on the site, I found one on how to make the eyes in your photos "pop" I have been playing with this and some of the actions all morning. Now don't get me wrong, getting great light and good composition straight out the camera makes things easier, however, sometimes it just isn't possible. anyway...this easy trick has made a fantastic difference with my pics. here's some examples.
this one is straight out of the camera (just an okay shot) it's really yellow and a little blurry.

I used actions to correct the tint (yellow correct from itty bitty actions) then used a quick burn action (pioneer woman free action) and used the tutorial on how to make her eyes pop. I love the result.

it turned a picture that I likely wouldn't scrap into one that I can wait to print.
here's another example:

I had already edited and printed this picture using several actions
(Lighten, cooled it down, vignette - totally rad actions) (yellow correct - ittybittyactions)

I decided to go back to an already good edit job and try the eyes. the change is subtle but effective and I like it so much more!

I did today's tutorial. and OMG so EASY....

Yes, I've done it. I love music I can't help it. so I have added a playlist of some songs that I'm loving right now, some new, some very old. Music is such a personal preference. not everyone loves the same things, and that's okay. you can always hit stop or pause on my playlist to turn off the music, or if you don't like the song you can browse for another. either way. I love it!

FINALLY, I completed my first ever scrapjack! ---------> link on my side bar! I'm totally happy with it, I took these pics of Allison about two weeks ago at her hip hop dance practice, not the best photos, but in the smaller format you really can't tell! I just read my Blog and realized that although I have added the blinkie I never ANNOUNCED formally that I made the 2 Croppin Cousinz DT!!!! my term begins March 1st and I couldn't be more excited!! the women on the site are welcoming and my good friend Alicia is there. I've had fun getting to know everyone over the last month, and even managed to win myself a contest to boot!! the cousinz mailed me an awesome prize! (I posted about it on their MB with a picture!) I hope to have some fun things planned there soon, things I've always wanted to do and share but hadn't yet. so happy this will the place that that will happen. if you haven't been there or registered check it out, you definately won't be disappoined!!

I have some YUMMY Lo's to add to the blog on Saturday. The new kit for http://www.2croppincousinz.com is being revealed on the site Saturday and I can upload the creations I made using the kit. AWESOME kit, so verstile and I love what came out of it!! I haven't forgotten you my dearest blog. Things have been crazy in the scrapbook world, and I felt like I needed to take a little break from everything. from posting, from MB's and focus on creating art, and that's what I've spent my time doing. I managed to get 4 LO's and one card finished in a just a few days, which is a miracle for me. I'm such a slow scrapper.

I've had really wonderful scrap mojo the last few weeks, it all happened AFTER I de-cluttered and re-organized my scrap area! (thanks Big picture scrapbooking class!) I feel like a new scrapper! WEll, I can hardly believe that the holidays are already upon us. we are going out of town for thanksgiving next week and I can't even believe it. I've been loving the LO's done with my http://www.thescrapbooksite.com/ kit. it's amazing, and the colors are delicious. next up is my yummy http://www.scrappygiraffekits.com/ kit, seriously, each month these two clubs just blow me away!! the soundtrack page is one done for my BOM challenge that Pam at SGK has posted, we had to write about an obsession. okay. I've been tagged by my buddy Alicia. the idea is to post 7 random facts about yourself and tag 7 other people by commenting on their blogs. so here I go. (thinking up new random things is hard sometimes!)

1. I was a varsity cheerleader in high school (basketball and football) but you would never know it by my personality now.

2. I got pregnant with my first child right after my 21st birthday. :)

3. I played the clarinet for 8 years, then gave lessons for a year after that privately. I have been taking piano lessons now for 2.5 years.

4. I have terrible road rage, and just being in traffic gets my blood boiling.

5. I only have two close girlfriends that live near me. (they have been friends since grade school and I work with both of them) the rest of my friends are online.

6. I don't eat breakfast. hardly ever.

7. I used to collect beanie babies like a crazy person. now I have no idea what to do with most of them!

Trying to get some layouts uploaded. (for some reason I can never type on top of the pictures...so strange.) anyways. I've been scrapping, but bad at bloggin! yikes! the first two layout are using My Favorite Memories kits. yummy bright bold colors!! and the second two are using Scrappy Giraffe's April Kit. so wonderful, and whimsical to use! I can't wait to create more layouts with it! as always TFL!

I love the new kit that I just received from The Scrapbook Site! www.thescrapbooksite.com these layouts are done with Kit #3 - Marina Rd. it's a mix of sweetwater and new Heidi Grace papers. so fun! and AND...this is huge. both of these layouts are using older pictures that I've had forever...San Juan from 2003 and Allison's musical from last year. love that these papers work with everything! TFL!

KMA week 5 contest Layout

I love how this layout turned out!!! this weeks challenge was to scrap something your family does for fun, Patterened Paper could not be bigger than a dollar bill (and single piece) and you had to doodle. these pics are from last weekend at Fort Stevens on the coast. I LOVE THIS! and it didn't take me more than a few hours to do! yay!

I've been wanting to scrap this photo with this song for so so long. I love it. it's by the Foo Fighters, everytime I hear it, it reminds me of DH and I just get a really warm feeling from it. the layout is made with the Scrappy Giraffe March Kit featuring yummy upsy daisy papers. the rich colors were perfect!

So..the first layout is for week 2 of the KMA best scrapper challenge, the rules say these aren't supposed to be posted anywhere online. well. this is my personal blog. only a handful read it, and shit, if you're gonna report me, then I guess I lose! hahaha! but it's a scraplift of one of the DT (a requirement) I'm totally pleased with the outcome, and hey, some Vegas pictures are scrapped! yay me!

okay, second layout is for week 1, it's me in high school, we had to scrap a high school memory or something...I love this photo, I've always loved this photo and feel so blessed to have it. I'm SO THANKFUL that I've now scrapped it. without the contest that never would have happened.

the third photo. this is a doosey. two fold. first, it's based off an INCREDIBLE sketch by my good friend Alicia (see her sketch blog on the side bar!) but it's also using the AWESOME TSS April Kit, dream street papers. I can't tell you how much I LOVE this layout, the papers, the pictures, well everything!!!

Crate Paper

I'm not sure why I have such a hard time using Crate Paper because I love it. I love the way it looks and feels but for some reason, this particular manufacturer is really hard for me to create with. Here's a layout that I've finally managed to do after it's sat on my table for a week. I used the Scrappy Giraffe January Kit for this one! YUMMY! TFL!

I love this song. I hear it on the radio all the time. it's by KT Tunstall. it's catchy the lyrics are perfect for this layout. I did this one for myself. used the paper that my awesome SS Michele sent to me. I love it. :)

well...I finally have a place to keep all my layouts in a single place, regardless of who they are made for! So, for my first post I will be adding a layout that I created this week made with the kit from BISC. it was based on a sketch and I'm so pleased with the result.
